vesper (they/them) is a feline who grew up at sea with ray, but now lives in a library in a coastal town. they've been really curious from a young age, and had exhausted the books they could find in the captain's cabin, where they and ray lived back when vesper lived out at sea with him. now, they live alone and don't usually leave the library when they don't have to, but vesper does really look forward to when ray sends them a letter or is able to come and visit.

vesper is an odd-looking cat, which contributes to their not leaving their home very often. they have purple fur, which most other cats have never seen before, and an odd tail. the reason vesper keeps their eye closed is because they actually have two eyes there! having extra eyes is a trait only known to be posessed by monsters of legend, so other cats don't react well to it. vesper used to wear an eyepatch when they were younger, but now they just keep their eyes closed to avoid dealing with others' opinions or comments on why someone so young has an eyepatch. they can actually see through their hair with their other eye, which they keep under their hair to make their face harder to read.
